Bonzo's new phrase: "All aboard!" Suitable for busses or trains.
Grandmama came for the weekend and we had a wonderful time. We went on walks, sang little songs, read books, and played. Not an exciting weekend by most people's vacation standards, but we enjoyed ourselves, and I have Monday off, so it's almost like I get two weekends in one. Bonzo's new walking skills are a big hit. It's really more than enough to keep us entertained.
Our boy wonder appears to be teething again, eating all sorts of "eyss coobs," drooling, and generally being short tempered. We give him ice cubes in the bath, and he is shocked when they disappear. A couple nights ago I asked him where the cube went, and he looked around in a little panic.
Other 16-month news: Bonzo has a girl in his life. I'm really not fond of this thing where we assign romantic intentions to toddlers and say that they are "flirting" or "making eyes at" or "have a crush on" someone they know, because I think it's mostly ridiculous, heterosexist, and just far too complex for an age group that can't deal with their own toileting. That all having been said, this boy is totally in love with a girl at baby school. Ask him about his friends there, and he'll sigh and say, "Mei-mei." She's a great big non-verbal Amazon type baby, about his age but probably almost half again his weight. She lumbers around like an old movie monster and grabs toys from larger kids. She's his hero. He follows her around, he wants to eat her food, he says her name over and over and over in the car. "Mei-mei. MEI-MEI!" I've tried to show him the subtle difference between "mei-mei" and "mama," but he seems to occasionally get us confused. Hrm.
