We narrowly escaped the lake-effect snow (by going south through Indy, 'cause we're tricky like that) and made it to Smalltown Ohio for the big Easter bash. The official reason for the trip was to get our taxes done, but mostly I didn't want to miss out on any family or chocolate.
Both aspects of the trip were lovely: for the first time in FIVE YEARS, we made a tax appointment, turned over our papers, got the paperwork filled out (almost) and filed without procrastinating, panicking, losing forms, getting snowed by our tax preparer, and/or suffering sticker shock at the accountant's fee. We are getting a refund, and (unlike last year) I have some confidence that this has been accurately calculated and we won't get that hideous letter from the IRS that says, "WE HAVE DISCOVERED A PROBLEM WITH YOUR 1040". So, yay!
Also, Godiva, Nectar, and (yes!) Jordan almonds. Yeah, baby.
Bonzo likes his relatives. He likes rolling around on carpet, and the aerodynamic swoop of the 'sposie diapers. He looooooves his stacky cups, and the Easter basket that wags its tail. He loves his Grandmama quite a lot. He does not love sleeping in a place that isn't home, or pack'n'plays, or extended car travel, or staying up past his bedtime. So it was a mixed bag.
I love taking pictures of the baby in the sunbeam at my mother's house. He's just so lovely.
Finally--in the last seven days I've had really important conversations with two different people, and I feel really good about how they went. I didn't really say anything the way I meant to say it, but I think I still managed to get across the necessary bits, and it's really nice to be heard. I feel really light. Also really tired--I kind of pulled an all-nighter on the last one. So, have a good week, everyone. No matter what or how you celebrate, I hope that this weekend included chocolate and some good company and a song.
