trope: (bonzo yum)
Bonzo went to his nine-month checkup today, and was pronounced hale and hearty, and was extremely patient through a surprise BLOOD DRAW (yikes!) to check his iron levels and his lead levels and probably a whole lot of other elements. We spent a lot of time together, yesterday and today, and so my babymeter is pegged on high. But that also means it's the perfect time to write, since I have lots of material.

We went shopping at the grocery store and I had my first stranger-danger moment: an older gentleman came up and put his hand on Bonzo's head. It didn't make me scared, but it did strike me as highly inappropriate, as if he had walked up and picked a piece of lint off my shirt. Bonzo's head whipped around and he just looked at the man curiously.

Franklin had a Thousand Knitters shoot at the Windy City Knitting Guild meeting last night, and Bonzo and I trotted out so I could get my picture taken. As I got him out of the car, he greeted me with a sock in each hand and a huge mischievous smile. "Look, Mom, I can undress myself!" It was all in his eyes.

A kind women in a rainbow bolero offered to hold him while I knitted for the shoot. (2x2 rib for me, if you were wondering.) When I came back three or four minutes later, he had not made a peep but his eyes were full of tears. Poor little lamb; I can ignore him when he's wailing and yelling, but this kind of sadness just makes me leap out to him. I really wish she'd come up a moment or two earlier to let me know he was lonely.

Finally: we think he might have said "da-da" on Monday night, St. Patrick's Day. We're sure he said da-da, but think he might have said it directly in reference to his father. This possibility made Craig jump up and down with joy.

I'm still putting off uploading the recent pics and videos. Someday soon.
