Sunday on La Grand Jatte
Jun. 4th, 2004 12:31 pmI drove back from school to the office today by going east on 90/94 past the LaSalle Bank Mural Building. They're putting up a variation on Seurat's "Sunday on La Grand Jatte" (is that the correct title?) with the umbrella lady in the foreground and the Chicago skyline in the background. In between, there are little background people lounging, running through the water, painting the sand... Suddenly I realized that the mural artists were still up on the scaffolding, putting on finishing touches. They were in scale with the background figures and looked like part of the painting until they moved. Spooky and hyper-realistic. I love my city.
