Green balloon: still floating at the ceiling.
Kid: Not feeling nappy today. Sleep schedule for this evening is now fubar'd.
Lunch: we went out to the Walnut Room yesterday and had a fascinating meal. Despite the slick-looking web page (and who wears their hat to lunch?) the restaurant actual is spacious, dusty, and elegant in a 1950s sort of way. It was not crowded, it was absolutely catering to the septo- and octogenarian set, and aside from the thing where the server tried to sell us a bottle of salad dressing--which she seemed rather glum about--the whole experience was quirky and wonderful. Also, the lunch prices were about fifteen years behind other linen-napkin dining in the Loop. I'll give it one thumb up.
Drinks: I came, I saw, I kibbitzed, and I was mostly successful in not being maudlin. It's odd for me to watch colleagues come and go and see the cohort get progressively younger as time goes by--a little like being in college, watching all the new freshmen come in each year. Then I came home, got to play with my baby for an hour, and tagged C out so that he could go play. It really was lovely.
Closet: Brown Elephant came and carted away a good portion of our junk from the storage closet, and most of the rest of it is sitting in our guest room/office/yarn storage. Assuming everything goes according to schedule, we can just leave it there and cart it back downstairs the first week of April. If the project gets delayed and we have to use that room, we will be getting very creative with the rest of the junk.
Socializing: ready for more. I can really tell that we're moving closer to the sun... I feel like talking to people for the first time in months.
