Finally, finally, finally, we had a weekend where no one is here from out of town, or just left, or coming in tomorrow. A weekend without cleaning or planning. (Sorry, K, I might make y'all make your own bed when you arrive. Or I might get organized between now and then. We'll see.) I went for walks, talked to a bookshop owner who I can't wait to introduce [livejournal.com profile] stephanieb to, played with the baby (now with extra motor control! And smiles coming soon!), talked on the phone to my mother, and read HP7. No spoilers ahead.

Elwood and I are reading it together, leapfrogging back and forth over each other's bookmarks, and pointedly not saying anything when we hit the good parts. I was finally forced to give the book back to him just a few chapters from the end, and I know I won't give it back tonight. That's okay; we've been through some major plot points in the last fifty pages (I stopped right before the chapter entitled "Kings Cross") and I think I'm tired and want to digest some of the more shocking bits.

Last night I abandoned all Harry Potter; there were more important things to talk about, and again, I needed to digest the shocking bits awhile. It was a long and pretty rough night with Bonzo, and having a day to relax and read slowly helps heal the tiredness. Bonzo is pretty spectacular today, too, and that helps. He got his first shower today. He didn't mind it, though I was scared to death of dropping him. I wish we had more kid-friendly bathrooms in this place.

I started using my little electronic calendar again, because I have so many appointments this week. It's the beginning of my re-entry into the world--daycare shopping, solo social engagements, yet more medical appointments. In many ways, this weekend has pulled me farther back inside my own little fantasy world, but it feels nice.

He's asleep now, so I should be too. I'm sad for that, as I am convincing myself I want to write my paper now. (Ha ha ha! Been on the computer twenty minutes, I have. Did I open the file? NO.) But time for that tomorrow.
