What's with the quote, you ask? Bitch Ph.D is broken today, and the screen freezes and fills my whole monitor with just one line of text. I haven't gotten back on the website to find the context for this one, but it seems fitting.

Today I voted; we have runoffs in both our old and our new wards, so I decided to weigh in on the race I knew more about. While I was there, I checked out the neighborhood and dug up some chocolate mint to plant in a pot on our windowsill. When it's warm enough, perhaps it can go out onto our fire escape.

This weekend we went to a condo proto-association meeting, and had a great time comparing notes on our units and walking around checking out all the little issues we need the developer to fix before the turn over. It's nice to get to know the neighbors, even if only a little bit; however, it makes me feel worse about not having any blinds. Now when I sit in my living room looking all frumpy and knitting, they know who I am.

I'm knitting again. Thank heavens. And somebody slipped some fabulous orange-dark chocolate into my bag yesterday. YUM YUM YUM.

Tax day, and I'm not rushing to the post office; how can that be? We went to Big Box Tax Service to get our stuff done last week, which was almost as hellish as doing them ourselves and infinitely more expensive. A good friend offered to do our taxes for us, which was a lovely idea that we put off until the week before. At that point, I realized that she was probably busy doing everyone else's taxes, for money, and since we had a good coupon we'd just jaunt off to this place, which wouldn't be that expensive, right? BAD BAD BAD. They had no staples, no credit card reader, odd stuff showed up on our tax forms between visit one and visit two, and couldn't explain the terms of their contract. BAAAAADDDDD. Next year, we're going back to Ohio to my mother's accountant, since he was so nice to me when I was in college. After that, we'll carefully use that and maybe do our own the year following? Because we'll have so much free time while chasing a toddler. Ha ha ha ha!

I don't want to read or hear any real news today, just want to confine myself to election return and the Cubs. I wished this morning for that Ani DiFranco song concerning election day, and found I had it buried in my mp3 player. This confirms both that I am a yuppie and life is grand. The Harry Chapin song about the clock tower is not on here, and we haven't unpacked the CD's. That's for the best, I think. How much time off from real-world events am I justified in taking?

Bonzo is kicking up a storm, seems to be mostly in the down-and-out position, and behaving pretty nicely except that I've hit the shortness of breath/heart racing stage. I'm so slow this week; I think I'm paying the cost for all the superwomanesque zip-zipping around during the move. I really hope that the energy returns at some point.

Time to go back to work.
