I'm alive! I'm torn between wanting everyone to post more, and not being able to keep up with the LJ backlog after a weekend or a night off. We're still moving slowly through the house organizing, and it's starting to look more like it will in the final tally. Part of the challenge is that it takes so long to do really simple tasks, like changing the washcloths or cooking dinner. We lose the rice, and haven't unpacked all the linens yet, and say things like, "Where did I put the scissors? Where should I look for scissors in this house?" and these things take a lot of mental energy. I think we've almost got the clothes/bathing/food systems automated again, though little bugs pop up from time to time with all the pilot testing.

We're still in the process of acquiring things:

a coat rack, or some outerwear-storage device
an entertainment center, including space for CDs
a desk with bookshelves that accomodates the blue room
way better file cabinets, to go with said desk
blinds (current order got cancelled because it wouldn't be here for five weeks, new order as yet does not exist)
curtains
any kind of privacy, for that matter
cable
phone and internet (I cancelled AT&T service in a huff, I'm hoping that Comcast can take care of this and trying to get C to set it up, which is a SLOOOWWWWW process)
space for the rest of my yarn and the rest of C's books
nursery stuff, for which we would probably want a shower, for which we would absolutely need to create a registry (have we done that? Nooo...)
a frame for our art
mad eBay skillz with which to dump our miscellaneous junk that we can't keep
a doula
a laptop--on the cheap--and wireless router to make the internet go

Anyone have advice on any of these? We're trying to Craigslist a lot of it, but that takes time and internet access of which we have precious little. Also, how do we create a baby registry that does things like cloth diapers and alterna-parent gear, not just the "Babies R Us" stuff? It's tough to shop internet retailers when it all has to be done before or after work.

We had at one point planned a housewarming a couple weeks after the move, but now that goal is looking kind of laughable. I have to keep reminding myself that we've only been there nine days, and it will get better from here. But progress is slow, and we're a little zonked.

Bonzo is great, and kicks up a storm all night. (Work bores the kid--are we surprised?) I have my yearly review tomorrow, and we're discussing maternity leave plans, which should be exciting. My coat doesn't fit any more, and I'm not going to buy another one just for this freak storm, so everyone plan on it warming up soon. And then perhaps we'll party, eh?
