HUGE mail stoppage at the post office this week seems to be resolving... I got the check I needed in the mail to actually pay for the car I bought last week. YAY! The mail has been coming at 7 or 8 pm, and I went to the post office on Friday morning and they said it would all be resolved "today or tomorrow". We left home at 8 pm last night, very dejected, having gotten NO mail on Saturday, and we came home at 10 pm to a big pile of joy--my check, and a t-shirt that El got from Glarkware. A huge weight has been lifted from my mind.
I continue to get to know Jhames the car better; finally figured out how to make the locks work today. (Yes, I've read the manual.)
Dinner tonight was courtesy of The Blog That Ate Manhattan, and her fabulous braised chicken recipe. It was more work than I'd planned on doing, but we had that stuff sitting around the house (mostly; I used powdered cinnamon and ginger) and it tasted amazing. It's going into the recipe box, stat.
We have a big pile o'books we've found duplicates of in our collections and otherwise don't need. A few things have already been stowed in the trunk of the car to go to Brown Elephant ('cause I have a trunk now!) and now we just need someone to help us get fluent in Craigslist so we can get rid of other sundry stuff. Thus the packing and moving begins.
