three important news bulletins
Jul. 12th, 2006 09:44 pmFirst, for all my blog friends, let me please apologize for my abrupt absence--not the lack of posts, because do we really need one more post to distract us during work? (okay, sometimes, yes)--but for the lack of comments or kind replies to all of your comments over the past few days. There is no excuse for my silence! I thought about faking a computer crash, but that would bring down upon my head all sorts of bad karma that I don't need. The last time I faked sick for work.... well, never mind. I don't do that stuff any more.
Second, those of you who know me in real life do know or should know that my job is changing. Whee! I'm not entirely sure how it will be changing yet, but it will be different come fall. I'll know more about that soon. We lost one of our funders, which means that we don't have as much cash, though we will have much more freedom to operate without the big contract telling us, "Do this! Don't do that!" We're apparently not the only one losing contracts these days. Heh. Do I feel a twinge of empathy with Halliburton? Not ONE LITTLE BIT. 'Cause we didn't waste the money when we had it. Also (this is a small miracle) we didn't manage to generate any bad press or ill will like they did. It's a lovely bit of schadenfreude, though, in a week where I can appreciate it.
Third, I'm headed out of town to Scotland for next week. What?? you say. Why yes, dah-ling, it's time for a little jaunt to the country. So I won't be around for the next ten days or so either. Anybody know any yarn stores in Scotland?
