Rogue is done with the knitting, now it just needs the blocking and the sewing. I am so nervous and flustered by this project I almost can't go on.

I stayed up until 2 am last night hanging out with an old friend and the construction guys at O'Hare. More hijinks to follow, with her.

This weekend we went out to see the Pompeii exhibit, which was beautiful but slightly disappointing in the way the story got told. Here's the deal: rich people carried metal stuff. Slaves and paupers didn't. So the only surviving artifacts are from wine merchants, traders, and Julius Caesar's father-in-law, or something like that. Lots of gold rings. Lots of coins. Lots of similarly upper-middle-class gawkers with headphones listening to the audio tour. One woman stared agape at how shiny and well-preserved the coins were. "I wonder how much those are worth?" she asked, seeming to forget their historical value. Ah, society, how little we have changed. It's a little different from the story my dad told me as I was growing up--a much bigger disaster.

More to follow. I gotta get to class.
