at long last...

...I have discovered the magic of the RSS feed and joined the folks using readers. Overnight, it seems, I began snarling at those foolish bloggers who do not *have* RSS feeds on their blogs. Yes, I do realize that until recently my own Tally Ho did not feature a feed. But that's been remedied, I believe. I'm also becoming fond of Sage, which the lovely
alymid pointed me towards.
...Winter has arrived in Chicago, with lots and lots and lots of snow. From the evening window it seems peaceful and serene, but when I go outside I find it to be a snarling, freezing mess. Last night we began the Christmas preparations in earnest, though I still feel lukewarm about shopping and the value-laden approval game of Christmas gifts. I did manage to navigate the annual work tradition of "I know we said we wouldn't get each other anything but here's my gift to you anyway, what do you mean you didn't get me anything?" with some grace. At least I have managed to stay away from ham-filled sandwiches.
...Heather has new content up at Scarleteen, which always manages to thrill me because
(a)the essays parse in ways that smart teens can understand, which I love to find and mimic whenever possible, and
(b)it entertains adult learners as well (some of whom would be improved by more frequent reading of these pages, imho).
I'm saddened by this second reason, because many of my friends and colleagues still confess to sexual dysfunction at an alarming rate and I feel pretty helpless to change that fact. Also, I feel sure that others are so resigned to an unhealthy sex life that they don't bring it up, or can't discuss it with anyone. Le sigh.
