Went to see Les Mis last night, courtesy of LP. I was disappointed for the first twenty minutes, but the cast more than made up for it by the end; I think perhaps they were saving their strength? The show clocked in at three hours exactly. I also want a big barricade climby thing now. And I got too distracted by all the other themes of war and loss and survival to parse the two biggest curiosities of the written show:
1) What's up with the creepy antiseptic love of Marius and Colette?
2) All this God stuff. Where is God, when there's war? And why doesn't anyone ask about this?

The singing was great, for the most part. We sat up in the back, with all the giggly teenagers. The last time I listened to Les Mis I was their age, so it was appropriate.
