"everybody wants to be heard"

My esteemed father has joined the ranks of LJ, much to my shock and delight! (Give him a few days to settle in before you go reading over his shoulder.) I mentioned this to Craig and one of the knitting buddies, and they were both speechless. I took a poll of the knitters last night and discovered that while all of them have knitting blogs except me, their families mostly (a) don't know, (b) are appalled, or (c) both. Many friends to whom I mention this blog get a funny look on their faces and say something like, "You mean everybody can just READ it?" These are obviously people who write diaries to unload secrets and not in the hidden hope for a global audience. Hm. Who *doesn't* want to be heard?
